Ever had those circling thoughts. They just won't stop, they don't make sense, hopping from one thing to another so fast. And they are there, last thing at night stopping you sleeping, or in the middle of the night waking you up, or first thing in the morning And it is just so exhausting.
How to get a break from thoughts?
1) Write them down. Thoughts can keep circling so you don't forget, if you write them they can reduce. This doesn't work for everybody.
2) What is the state fuelling the thoughts? What is your body feeling? Stress? fear? Overwhelmed? Where do you feel it in your body? What do you need to feel comfort at this moment?
3) Get out of your head. Connect to your senses. What do you see ahead? Describe in detail.
What can you smell? Touch something. Describe in detail. Listen the sounds around you. Taste something, notice the texture, notice the flavours in different parts of your mouth.
4) Connect to nature, if you can get out for a walk. If you are in the city centre, look for where nature bursts through, grass in a pavement crack, the birds on the shop fronts.
